A Prospectus for the Asian Monodrama Festival 

    To promote the traditional and diversified theatrical culture and and to meet the increasing demands to honor and recognize the Asian monodramatists, we attempt to hold "The Asian Monodrama Festival", which will be a continuous event. While the Asian is attracting keen interests not only from Asia but also other regions and playing the pivotal role in search after a new way for the Western drama in its practical and theoretical aspects, it has failed to recognize and hand down the value of its theoretical culture. 
    In addition, …despite the long history of Asian monodramas, they have been disappearing through lack of promotion and by the influence of the Western dramas and their charactristics. Furthermore, Asian monodramas have not exhibited their originality with firm conviction. 
     In the meantime, the purpose of the festival is to elevate these shortcomings through inter-Asian cooperation, thereby providing the opportunity to identify and recreate the culture of the Asian monodramas. 
    To make this small festival an established cultural event, the participation of Western monodramtists is naturally required. However, for the time being, emphasis of the festival will be primarily placed on the Asian dramatists. Therefore, it is named "The Asian Monodrama Festival". To this effect, I am encouraging the paticipation of monodramtists both from Asian countries and from the whole world to make this event more meaningful and succesful in the future.
